![]() ![]() And just like that, I can confirm that: yes, it is possible for your first game to make the Hall of Fame in Game Dev Story!! All you can do now is name your game, and ship it out to the public. Now what's done is done, and your entire run is now at the mercy of the dreaded critics. Don't save if you're not confident that you CAN get a 32 at all, since this renders the entire run null and void if you don't!Īt last, the debugging process finishes. That way, you can avoid the stat point loss by releasing the game early while it still has bugs (since bugs, to my knowledge, don't actually affect the review scores). Keep in mind: blackouts and equipment failures can still happen during the debugging process, too, so if you don't feel confident that you'll score at least 32 from the critics on your first go at it, you can save right after the "The game is now complete, now we'll start the debugging process" dialog box appears. This is your final chance to get any last stat boosts in, because once the last bug's been squashed, you can't go back into the menu to apply boosts. :PĪnd at last, it's time for the debugging process. ![]() ![]() Feel free to experiment with which boosts are more valuable in terms of their effects on the review scores, though this isn't something I really have the patience to sit down and fully experiment with. Note that the more you use them, the less effective they become, until they eventually just stop working altogether. If you really want to make sure the reviewers are friendly to you, you can use one or more of the boosts you bought from the traveling salesman to get about 15-20 extra points in each category. You also can't advertise your very first game (for what earthly reason, I have no idea), which is unfortunate, but negligible in the long run - it's not as though PC games sell well, anyway, no matter how highly they score from the reviewers or how good the combination is. This is why you should save before (not after!) starting the development process, since a blackout/equipment failure will almost certainly kill your chances at the Hall of Fame. The game seems to "remember" that a blackout/equipment failure is destined to happen at a pre-determined point, so save-scumming won't work to get around these, unfortunately. If a blackout or equipment failure (or, heaven forbid, both) happens.well, tough luck. Like the scenario/graphics/sound prompts, if you fail a boost challenge, reload your save and try again. Other than that, the stat points are mostly out of your hands. No, Francoise, that is not good enough! What are you doing? You've betrayed me! :P) there is little to no chance of making the HoF with 100 points in a stat from Francoise or other workers of her caliber, so that it says "00" for 100, "01" for 101, and so on). An average review score of 8/10 usually requires about 100 Fun/Creativity/Graphics/Sound, with leeway in the latter two categories. "Save-scumming" is perfectly fair game (the challenge is supposed to be hard, not impossible :P). Some of the finer details about our end goal: the game *must* be on the PC, as the game won't let you pick any other platform for your first game. Then make a game right before March (when the staff salary gets deducted from your balance), and hope for the best!īeginning entirely from a new game of Game Dev Story 1, is it possible to have your very first game score at least 32/40 points from the reviewers? Before doing this, though, make certain that you've saved up enough money to last for a good year or two. ![]() Preferably, you'll have at least one Hacker among your staff. Start by doing a few contracts, then hiring the best possible staff, then absolutely spam contracts to get the research data to level up your staff at least to Producer/Director level - basically until the total salary is around $10,000K a year. Mainly to get research data to level up staff, but also to give a bit of a money buffer for when the staff salaries get exorbitantly high, to avoid going into irrecoverable debt. TL DR: Yes! Contracts, contracts, and more contracts. ![]()
